June-July Sermon Series: "Picture Perfect - I AM: Portraits of Jesus.”

We start the summer with our sermon sPicturePerfect I AM - Portraits of Jesuseries called "Picture Perfect—I AM: Portraits of Jesus.” All four Gospels found in the New Testament record Jesus making statements about Himself using the Greek words, “ego eimi”, meaning “I AM.” However, in the fourth Gospel, the Gospel of John, John records Jesus saying “I AM” thirty times. That’s well more than twice that of the other three Gospels combined, who record Jesus saying “I AM” only twelve times. In seven of those thirty passages Jesus uses an explicit predicate following “I AM” to describe Himself through a graphic and meaningful metaphor. Seven. The perfect number in the Bible. That’s John’s way of saying here is a picture perfect portrait of Jesus.

June 7 “I AM the Bread of Life” (John 6:48)
June 14 “I AM the Light of the World” (John 8:12)
June 21 “I AM the Door” (John 10:9)
June 28 “I AM the Good Shepherd” (John 10:11)
July 5 “I AM the Resurrection and the Life” (John 11:25)
July 12 “I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6)
July 19 “I AM the True Vine.” (John 15:5

We invite you to be a part of these worship services and studies, as together, we get to know our “picture perfect” Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who is the great I AM!
